Hey guys, I have a '90 L98 and I've gotten all new pads done. The problem is I'm still getting chirping. I had another squeeling from the front after that so I had them put ceramic brakes on the front at no charge. And this chirping happened even before I got all this done. Same chirp...
I told him if he could change the Brake hardware, but he said he cleans all that. Could this sound be coming from some sort of chassi component? sounds like birds chirping and winding down then the noise stops when I push firmly on the brakes. Or maybe its a belt... it seems to me like its a motion problem not an RPM problem.. dunno I'm no expert...
Please Help me even though I realize this thread is probably useless...
If it's coming from your brakes, and he installed them dry, you need to put a coat of brake caliper grease on the back and on the back edges of the pads. You can pick up some at any auto parts store. Grease the caliper guide pins real good also.
It wouldn't hurt to jack it up pull the wheel and give her a spin and have an assistant put some slight pressure on the brakes to cause a drag in order to identify you "chirping".
Did the brake mechanic put all the clips back in place?
Can you use some anti-squeek on the back of the pads against the calipers?(can get at auto store too!)
Try a visual with some help and be careful and let us now what you find as a result, so we all can learn too! I hope this helps.

a dry u-joint will chirp--tiny chirp, not from front or rear--lube with a ''grease needle'' (oem joints have no zerk fitting--thanks beancounters) will stop the chirp but the u-joint is rusty inside and should be replaced soon
Some GM cars also have wear sensors that chirp like crickets when the pads get below minimum tolerance. If applicable, did the mechanic replace the wear sensors when he swapped out the new brake pads?
I'm pretty sure all new pads have new sensors. I will try to jack up the Car but.. i need to find ramps, never done it before scared but uhh, I'll do my best! and report back.
