I had my oil changed by Meineke about 5 months ago (before I pretty much got myself banned from there ) and my oil level does not seem to have changed since I had it changed..
I just checked it again a minute ago, and it's stil above the Full line. Do you think they put too much in, or is my '88 just very generous about not wasting oil?
If they put too much in, it's not gonna be easy to prove now.
It's also way past the point of having caused a problem.
Then again, it's 5 months out, I would change it now anyway.
I was actually getting ready to change it myself. I was just curious to know if it's normal to go 5 months and not drop oil level But I guess the past is the past, now
yea... you might be the luckiest man on earth... the owner of the only SBC that doesn't leak oil... I worry when my LT1 doesn't leak... that means it could be out!!!
That ranks up there with a Harley or anything made in England not leaking oil.

Luck isn't usually there for me... so that probably means that it's leaking somewhere hidden! :leaves:

My old 62 327 was a oil leaker( and burner even after a complete overhaul and 10,000 miles later oil leaks) but my wifes 96 WS6 LT1 TA has 157,000 miles and after a warranty intake manifold oil leak at 5,000 miles all is well. My 96 LT4 Vette Coupe has 72,000 and so far just a drop or two on the shop floor every few weeks and it is a daily driver also. I am suprised too but after 10 years I realize GM got their act together.
If a SBC is over filled TOO much it will POUR out the front main seal at the front of the oil pan and the PVC will pop out of the valve cover from too much pressure in the oil pan.

I guess I'm a lucky guy as well...my 93 doesn't leak a drop between changes and I beat the snot out of it...geez, that sounded like a Jerry Springer episode...lol
I put in 5 quarts including filling the new filter...
