Default Drivers Door unlocking while driving

Please help a newbie C4 owner! It is a 95 vert. with 126k on her she runs like a clock but I have some weird electrical gremlins I am trying to sort through. Most recent and troublesome seems to be that only the drivers door is unlocking and continues to pulse to unlock when I am hitting bumps. Please tell me my problem lies in the door pin switch? If not what else should I begin to look at? I should mention that when I purchased the car the door lock fuse had been pulled along with most of the courtesy lights so I am guessing this problem has been around a while. Thanks for any help you can provide

Do the interior courtesy lights come on at the same time? Does the Door Ajar lamp in the dash light up? If yes to both I would look at the door ajar switch. You did say that only the drivers door locks/unlocks. Does the passenger door lock work? If the passenger door works OK then you need to find something that is not in common with both doors.

And that would be the door lock switch in the door.

On my 93 the passenger door lock switch provided grounds to the curcuit. The drivers door and the passenger door both supplied the 12 volts. On the paasenger door lock switch there is 1 ground wire, 2 other wires provide the ground to the system when in the normally closed positon. When the passenger door lock would call for an unlock 1 of those 2 grounds went hot while the other stayed at ground. When the passenger door lock switch called for an lock the hot and ground are reversed.

I'm having the same problem in my 93. I just assumed it was the motion switch inside the PKK fob?

THe Passenger door unlock works fine. Yes ssometimes the door ajar light comes on for a brief second especially during hard cornering. Is there more than one switch on the door? Thanks for the replys

Did you ever figure out what was causing the uncommanded unlocking?

Each door has 1 switch. If you look closely you will see a small tab inside the stem of the door ajar switch that can be pried out a little to lengthen the switch. The vendors sell them for about $15.00 each.

The door ajar switch would be a good place to start. As stated by kalister, the switch is located on the lower part of the door on the back side of the door panel in the fiberglass. Not hard to see and can be adjusted. I have a 95 vert that when I was driving the interior lights stayed on. I don't remember seeing the door ajar light come on. Anyhow, I first used two quarter's and taped them to the inside panel the switch pushes against the round plastic stop and it fixed the lights from being on while driving...temporarily until the switch was adjusted.

Thanks I will try that adjustment It has got to be it. I am ordering a new switch for drivers side as I figure that is probably worn the most. I am sure thatdoor has been opened and closed quite often with 126k on the clock

Put you key in, then hold the "DOOR" button on the remote, after about 2 or 3 seconds the locks should both lock then unlock, if they both unlock, your now in "both doors" mode, if only the driver side unlocks, youre in "Driver's door only" mode.

This happens when you shut the door with the key in. Its normal and its meant to happen.

Were you able to resolve the door unlocking problem? I'm experiencing the same problem with my 93. I haven't had a chance to trouble shoot yet but I thought I would see what you found.

Thanks!
