It looks as though I'm going to be changing my Opti pretty soon. I thought I might change my timing chain & gears while in the area. I gather from some of the posts that the GM LT4 unit has been problematic. I've a 93 with 38K miles and would prefer not to change the cam. Who makes a good double roller for the LT1?
I'm also going to change the H2O pump. Is the GM unit the best quality?
Cloyes make a double roller timing set that will work with the LT1, I'm running one. But, you'll have to convert to an electric water pump to use this timing set.
OOps forgot, you'll need to upgrade the camshaft and opti to run the Cloyes DR.

Or, you can go with a HD timing chain, and go with a gen II opti. You will need to replace the timing chain cover and harness, but the opti itself is much better and cheaper.
