Default Flowmaster Catback

I was just curious to know if any one has the Flowmaster Catback and if so how does it sound and preform? I'm thinking about getting the set up or am going to get it built from the header back once i get them. I plan on using hedman hedders. Thanks in advance.

i have them with model 50 mufflers, and I really like the sound. Not too loud but gutsy enough for my likes. If you want something more than stock, but dont want to sound too much like a muscle car, flowmasters are the ones. IMHO

I've been running the Flowmaster Force II cat-back for almost 11 years. I don't know about much performance increase. But, I love the sound.

Which cat back system are you thinking about LT1 or L98?

If adapting to headers, I think an LT1 based system would be a good way to go even on an L98.

If you're looking for a stop-gap system before going to headers, consider one of the cheap true dual kits with an x-pipe added.

I did this in stages over the years. Flowmasters with cats and rear y pipe. Flowmasters with true duals. Flowmasters and true duals with headers. Finally flowmasters with true duals with headers and an x pipe.

I'm happy with the current setup, but if doing it all over again, I think I'd start with an LT1 based system mated to the headers, that way you get bigger pipes all the way back and a resonator or an option to easily add an x-pipe.

The melrose system looks nice too, but pricey.

I have the Flowmaster 50 series delta flows on my 87 and I can’t stand them. It’s sort of a “muddy” sound, they basically annoy me. The 87 does have both the main and kitten cats. I have heard that they will sound much different without the pre cats. Whenever I get off my lazy butt, I will install some sort of eliminator type exhaust.
