My '87 has that telescopic steering column + wheel. The wheel is old, ripped, a chunk is missing (musta got hungry), etc. I'm *not* paying $200 for another stock wheel. I don't even like them new. Can a aftermarket wheel like a plain grant or something not to flashy, but respectable be mounted on the column? I know on the fbody's you just use the adapter plate, but I'm concerned about the telescopic column.

MOMO makes an adapter for the telescopic column on a C4. Do a thread search and you'll find all kinds of discussion (with part numbers, even) on putting an aftermarket wheel on a C4...was a good one about a month ago, IIR.
grant does also, which is what i have on my 87, nice fit, check the web site and it give you all the info... Best price i've found was thru Summitt Racing on the Grant Wheels and Adapter.
