I got my car back together, with the new IAC in.. Drove it over 40. killed it.. drove it.. Idle is WOAH, NICE! No more "surging" in the engine. All around MUCH more healthy. In fact, it felt a LOT more healthy on the highway, and above 4krpm, does that make any sense? It feels like I picked up a few lost ponies. Or is it all in my head?
Some is likely positive thinking, but if it was stuck open the extra air would make it a little lean at WOT. Of course if you also adjusted the TPS (if adjustable on your motor) that could account for quicker throttle response.
Smash, I assume it's and L98. How tough was it? Did you have to fool/read adjust the throttle position sensor? My 91's surging at idle and slightly at speed. I'm not to well schooled in TPI. Thanks, Frank
I'm going to be pulling my TB off tomorrow and trying to clean the IAC before buying a new one. Figure I'll do the TB coolant bypass at the same time. I'm hoping I'll be able to fix my idle problem by cleaning the IAC instead of having to go with a new one. If it doesn't work, at least I'll have done the bypass so it will be less of a hassle to take the TB off again.
