Is this one of those items "you get what you pay for"?
I figured this to be true. So, it is a good item.
I have 24lb injectors on my mostly stock 86E and it's running rich. I'm in the process of getting things together for a laptop scan and I figure a AFPR will be one of my steps along with a modified chip.
The Holley IS a nice looking, well-performing unit that I would pick over the accel (or similar) units. However, if you do a search you'll find my thread that notes how the diaphram of my Holley split and died within 2 years - and NO replacement diaphrams are available. I'm now back to using the stock FPR - you may want to consider just shimming the spring with a dime or similarly thin washer to up the pressure a few PSI without dropping $100 on a shiny new regulator that no one will see.
I have no experience with the aeromotive unit, but have only read positive reviews on the forum.
I have used the aeromotive & mallory, I prefer the mallory it's about half the size & can order new springs or diaphram if needed. My mallory has been on over a year no problems I recommend a FP gage allso

YMMV
So no replacment diaphrams. The holley has been highly suggested til now.

Thanks guys, any other experiences, welcome to post.
RRT Vette: You did not say which car of yours is needing a new AFPR. If it is for the 88, I highly recommend the Holly as it is a direct fit to a stock fuel system. My first AFPR was an Accel unit and it was a POS! I ended up giving this away as I did not want to charge anyone $$$ for a POS. I then bought the Holley and it is great. If you want a photo of it on my 89, just give me a note.
Sounds like the Holley has the highest vote. It will be going on my 86E as stated. The LT1 is in perfect, stock, running order but the 86E is a bit on the rich side from Field Service Mode, plugs, and smell. I just ordered cables from Craig Moates to run a scan and figured a AFPR will be needed, anyway (fuel pressure at 40 with 24# injectors on stock motor). Sounds good everyonel
Yes, the thought had crossed my mind one or 200 times, hence the the question on the AFPR. This I had planned for, but may not be enough to get me out of the rich phase.
But have you addressed WHY you're running rich in the first place? Are you inbetween mods with larger injectors or?
It's likely that my negative experiences with the Holley unit are isolated at best - but contacting the company didn't reveal an expedient effort to fix the problem. Having no replacement diaphram was a real turn-off as well given the cost (and uniqueness) of the parts. I haven't heard of anyone else having a similar problem, so I could just be unlucky.
My posts are not showing up... maybe that's a good thing.
So you've given it some thought - but WHY are you running rich in the first place? Inbetween mods with large injectors (for future improvements) or something else?
This is a long story. I finally got the vette idling/running good. It sat up for 5 years untouched after rebuilding it from a fire. I started back on it 4 minths ago and fixed 3 codes that showed up. Cleaned the TB/IAC, adjusted minimal idle/TPS, found a vac leak the size of a pencil eraser, fixed intake manifold leak, fixed CSV, etc, the list goes on. Anyway I have done everything I can think of, even switch out ECM's from a spare. It runs rich no matter and I figured a scan will get me somewhere. Yeah, the pressure is normal (for stock injectors) but with the larger injectors seems to turn the pressure down will get me somewhere along with a tuned eprom for the injectors.
I have the vette starting on the first turn and idling/driving smooth. The smell of the exhaust is not pleasent. No codes and smooth running engine...what else??
