Default heads upgrade before the for P1SC

looking at the Trickflow LT1 195cc heads to put on my 95' LT1 6spd. I would like advice on the head gasket thickness and brand to use. The motor is internally stock and has never been pulled or had work done to it. 89k on the motor now and runs great. I would like to see a nice 50hp jump with the mods i want to do and a dyno tune before the P-1SC.

I see the heads combustion chamber is larger than the LT1's which is gonn a be better for boost and pump gas. Here in sunny california where Arnold drives his hummer all we have is 91 octane to feed our cars. There is obviously fuel additives and hi-octane unleaded fuels i could use but choos e not to on a regularly bases do to expenses.

I would like to do Heads,1.6crane RR's,and Smog legal heads then go for a dyno tune. No cam....yet,daily driver for now, rather keep it simple for me and trouble free until a better (economical) car is bought.

I have the trickflows, and with the stock cam and 14 pounds of boost they went 514rwhp/568rwtq. there was more in it due to timing issues and a fuel pump not working and leaning out to about 13.5 : 1. i was completely impressed with the quality of the head. the only thing I will say is that the exhaust side header bolt holes and centered on the exhaust port which doesn't work so hot on some headers. std LT1 heads have the holes closer to the bottom of the port opening.. may wanna check your headers against std D port gasket with centered holes to see if they will work alright with them. the only other thing is you will need to grab and adapter for the cooling temp sensor.. the hole in the head from trickflow is large to accomodate other types of sensors but it is an easy fix.

I got mine bare and put my own parts in them and had them machined flat and a valve job done, I like to know exactly what kind of valvetrain parts I have to work with, but I have heard good things about the components trickflow uses and I doubt you could piece them together cheaper.

as for head gaskets, I swear by the felrpo 1074's, but some here say they have not had great luck with them.. I personally have spiked to 22 psi so far and they have held flawlessly. I am also running these on our 95 P1SC car and they are doing great and have been on the car for about 12k miles now.. the rest use them but are not blown or turboed, but have done perfect.

Cometic makes a great gasket and you can try the MLS gaskets.. in my opinion.. unless your gonna run big boost.. you will have more headaches getting them to seal coolant then they are worth. but on big engines.. they will get the job done at elevated boost levels.. on your motor.... 1074's cheaper, reliable, and when your ready to pull the motor.. then decide what you wanna use for high boost!
