Looking to see if anyone has had a similar issue. Looking through past posts some are close but not exactly.
The first symptom has been going on for about a month and only happens randomly. It may go for days and not happen then 4 times in a row. Turn the key, she fires runs a second or two and stops. Turn the key off try again and she starts. In all cases after she starts she runs fine with no issues at all. Over time I have been watching for other indicators and have determined that when it hapens the service asr light is on. I now know that if I turn the key on and allow it to go through the bulb check and the service asr light stays on, turn the key off and try again. Im thinking grounds? Please any direction would be helpfull.
I'm not sure its tied to the ASR but check your oil pressure switch to the fuel pump. It might be going south. Pump runs on relay until oil pressure builds, then pump voltage is fed from pressure switch.
Thanks to you both, I have done the paperclip thing and no codes. I did find I can use the dash display by shorting different pins, and plan to do that this weekend. oil pressure switch?? Is it the same as the pressure sender for the gauges?

I'm going on memory. I believe there is a switch for the pump and a sender to the dash on a "T" at the left rear of the engine. Its hard to see as "T" goes into oil galley passage in block.
Up-Date, used a paperclip from a to g and had the digital display spit out the codes. THIS IS WAY COOL no blink counting. Only one code, H41 so history and loss of ecm communication. The odd part no "SYS" indication, could the ecm be failing or somthing else?
