Weird Headlight Problem

Weird Headlight Problem
If I turn on just the parking lights (without the headlights up), when I turn them off, the passenger side headlight tries to put itself down, but it is already down. You can hear a lot of clicking and if I have the hood up I can see the motor spinning. The headlight works fine when I turn them on, it pops up as it is suppose to, but when I put them down, they both go down but the passenger sides continues to try to put itself down for a full 7 seconds after it is already down. (Hope I didn't confuse everyone) Anybody ever had this problem? Thanks!

sounds like your nylon bushings are shot. This is a very common problem. Without the bushings the motor keeps spinning until it times out. Do a search on this forum on "headlight problem" or "nylon bushings", and you will get all the info. you ecer wanted to know about this problem....

Thanks for the advice. I found a thread with a link to a picture guide of how to replace the bushings. It was easy! Autozone had some replacement bushings for a Ford window motor that fit perfect. No more loud clunking when I turn off the lights! It's just hard to think of having a part meant for a Ford in the Vette!
