Passenger side underneath near the catalytic converter.
- - having a short or chopped in half (what I used) 5/8" wrench will help A LOT in getting the top nut off... Otherwise you may have to remove the passenger side wheel well and such... - - with the short 5/8" I was able to have the car in the air and back on the ground in under 30min... that was my 2nd time doing it (one week later, as I installed a crappy Purolator filter that absolutely ruined the performance and gas mileage and made me run 15-20 degrees hotter) -- make sure to only use AC Delco...
All I do to replace it is... remove the fuel pump fuse and run the car until it dies (should take only a second) - - unscrew the fuel cap (I'm not sure that is necessary though). - - Then lift the front of the car in the air so that you have enough room to work and get something under the car to catch whatever fuel is left in the lines. - -- you will also want to remove the clip that holds the fuel lines (between the engine and passenger side wheel well). - - - Remove the fuel pump bracket and undo the bottom fuel filter nut (this is where you will want to catch what should be just a small amount of fuel). Then use the short 5/8" to remove the top nut and remove the filter.... Reverse the process to install the new filter (again - AC Delco is the only brand that I know works worth a da*n). It is actually very simple this way - - - I've seen other directions that are FAR more complex than is necessary... - - - I don't know if you needed this, but I figured I'd post it anyway.
