Ive been pricing fuel injectors for my 93 LT1. What is significance of lb ratings? Ive seen anywhere from 35 to 60 lbs described. For comparison sake what is the rating for factory injectors?
I agree with the above, however keep in mind there are 2 measurements. 1. being the pounds of fuel flow (volume) The other is the actual pressure the pump and regulator is supplying to the injectors (pressure)
Now here is where it gets fun. A 93 is rated at 23.8lbs (volume) but this is with 43.5 lbs pressure. The ford svo injectors, which seem to be the most popular around here are flow rated at 37-39 lbs pressure so this is going to cause them to flow slightly more fuel then their rating on a stock 93 vette. A 24lb rated ford injector will flow around 25.6 lbs of fuel on your corvette.
Now the computer may be able to adjust for this on its own. If not, then you have 2 choices. Add an adjustable regulator and reduce the pressure or get the chip reprogrammed to handle the bigger injector. I would suggest using www.pcmforless.com if you go this route.
All of this may be unnecessary with the slight increase of volume but I just wanted to give you a heads up as the speed density cars are more sensetive to fuel changes then the maf cars.
