Guys, I am planning a day to work on the 86E coming up shortly. I got my Holley AFPR from Summit a few days ago. I plan on installing it and pulling the distrubitor and realigning TDC at #1 cylinder. My father installed the distrubitor some 6 years ago and it was taken out in Feb. to replace the intake manifold gasket and install as it came out. SunCr had stated on one of my threads before that the distrubitor could be off a tooth giving me a rich condition. The cap, rotor, plug wire were new 6 years ago and I've put < 500 miles since.
I will ohm the pick up coil, take the IM and have it tested. Check the rotor and cap (possibly replace), ohm the plug wires and install new plugs after the AFPR is on, set the fuel pressure accordingly with vacuum off, check the ESC, check compression (as I haven't done yet but no coolant leaks), and a few other things that need to be addressed. I understand that a weak spark can contribute to rich exhaust.
If anyone reads this and can think of anything else to be check, let me know. I will need to run another scan after doing these things. I hope all I need is the AFPR, but may have Alvin tune my chip for the 24lb injectors if need be.
