You don't need a spring tool. As long as you have the car on tall jack stands and use a floor jack under the LCA when unbolting the ball joint, you can remove/install any C4 spring.
i made a throw-away one...two pieces of 3/8 allthread rod about 18'' long, a block of 2x2 wood about 6'' long, two pieces of small hose about 3'' long that will slide over the allthread.
drill two 7/16'' hole in the wood, about 4-3/4'' apart...remove bolt thru vette frame in front of shock absorber and bolt thru frame behind shock absorber at brake hose bracket...install allthread rod with nut/ washers hanging down thru each frame hole...slide small hose onto allthread to prevent rod from rubbing the spring and slide the block up under the spring, put nut/washer on each alllthread and tighten to compress the spring....the 6'' block may need to be shortened a bit to clear the a-frame...a scrap of wood stuck in perpendicular to the 6'' block, length as req'd, will help keep the 6'' block from sliding inboard on the spring...tighten the nuts on the allthread top or bottom as is convenient to compress the spring--keep your important personal parts (fingers, nose, etc) clear in case something breaks...takes a few minutes of nut twisting, no 12 sec pit stop...when your're done with one side, the allthread will probably be bent somewhat, i just discard and cut new for the other side.
check allthread and wood dimensions before you start, i did throw the stuff out after using it and can't give accurate dimensions, sorry.
