Recipe for a 12 second L98
My traps were in the 125-130 MPH range.
125-130 mph traps ?? What are we missing here... the 200 shot of NOS ?

2 weeks ago I bought a '90 Z-51 6 speed coupe. $7900. I've got a 383 sitting at a machine shop, Scat crank, Eagle rods, KB hyper pistons, AFR 190 heads, Superram, custom comp hyd. roller, as things go along I'll keep you updated. With the precats gutted - only change from stock - last weekend the car went 13.86 @ 100.78, 1.92 60ft Dunlop sp2000 tires, 104,000 miles. That's the baseline.

Takes 600 + hp at the crank to run those traps. 220 CFM don't make that kind of power without some help.

I am basically duplicating your motor with the exception of running an auto and using forged pistons. My 88 auto/2.59's ran 14.00@98 with no pre-cats, cut lidand "frisbee delete", so that's my baseline. A 12 sec daily driver that is reliable, affordable and FAST is attainable, as evidenced by L98 Terror's car.

I have a best time of 12.69, but the 60' times sucked....2.45 seconds. Those Goodyears just won't hook up. My traps were in the 125-130 MPH range.
CAN WE ALL SAY BS BS BS BS BS BS BS BS :bs :bs :bs :jester
running low 12's.

OK...so I don't drag race like the rest of you do on a regular basis. :bb I'm an autocrosser, and am not embarrassed to admit it. Hell, my best R/T was a .669.....how in the world do you guys get that down to a .501? I worked on it all day long.
I've run this car down the 1/4 at 5 different events...I didn't remember EXACTLY what the MPH was, and didn't have my slips here at the office (they were in the car). I was pumped that I got a 3rd place in "A" bracket drags at NCCC convention in the fast guys bracket (less than 12.99 seconds).
My best time WAS a 12.69, and the MPH varied on all 12 runs from 109.9 mph to 115.7 mph. The timing slip is here at: http://www.corvetteforum.net/c4/joe90/1991Z07/ET.jpg
I'll see those 130 MPH traps with the 427 SB under way right now....we figure around 700-750 HP.
And I don't believe in using NOS...if I can't make it on the motor, what's the point.

"Hey what's that big bottle back there?"
"Uhhhhh, that's like, ummm, a fire extinguisher."
Of course, people do. They just know how to hide it well. They feel that winning IS everything. I don't believe in cheating to win...it is a hollow victory.
I guess I'm from the old school. NOS isn't there forever and when you run out you are back to a normal engine. I couldn't run NOS at the road race events, and it wouldn't work for anything besides drags since you need to be at WOT to activate the system. Make the power on the motor...whether it is naturally aspirated, blown or turbocharged and it is there anytime you want.
No filling the little blue bottle, no engine explosions...just horsepower when you want it.
Starting point: 1991 Chevrolet Corvette est. ¼ mile time 14.7-14.9 sec
?? Heck. My Cadillac is about that fast. :p:
