the sticky at the top of this page(c4 technical faq)is very informative.nathan plemmons article as well.that being said gears are probably the best bang for the buck(not cheap).an open air cleaner lid w/k&n,computer tune/upgrade,long tube headers, roller rockers, and torque converter(auto)are good enhancements.read the above article so you know some of the gimmicks to stay away from.most of all enjoy your vette! ps welcome to the forum!

Well if it is a automatic, IMO the best bang for the buck is a set of 3.54-3.73 gears. Next is a 2600-3000 stall converter. After that 1.6 or 1.7 roller rockers. Then its on to cam, heads reworked, and LT headers.
If it is a 6sp start with 4.10 gears.

How far do you want to go is the question. For a good increase and minimal effort, I'd get the 1.6 roller rockers (you'll need better springs too, to be safe) and a nice set of long tubes. If you want to go into the engine, just get the Hotcam kit, it comes with RRs, springs etc. and is a nice bang for the buck. Even as good as the LT1 heads are, there's a lot to be gained from a good port job and bigger valves. A good tuning (reprogramming) will maximize benefit from all of this and is really essential if you go that far. Tell us what trans., gears, etc. you have. What kind of Kitty-Cats do you work on? I just finished reassembling a C15 today. It ran perfectly, of course!

Thanks, to all. I think i have decided to start with gears R.Rs headers and maybe a cam and reprogrammer for now. I will be doing som research later on to see just what it is i want to do.
As for the Cats, i work on 777d haultrucks, 651 belly scrapers, 988&998 series loaders, D8 dozers, a few komatsu excavators, and small loaders, and a few euclid r50s from the 70s. It keeps me entertained, but gets pretty messy.

Just my 02 worth!
I would leave it alone .
Save your money and just enjoy.
What ever you do to the car it will not be enough. The parts are extreamly expensive.
You still never said if you have an auto or 6 speed.
I would install a nice set of wheels and tires. You can use the power programmer, but it only resets the tps to reach full throttle sooner. It is just a seat of the pants feel for power.
The corvette is a road race car not a 1/4 mile car.
Or you can do like I did buy 2 and when one breaks you have a spare.
If you want a fast car go buy a race car.
When the engine starts to have problems then I might consider up grading to more HP.
You can always do like I did and have the engine built beyond street power and end up with ,only a track car.Lots of $$$$$.
Welcome to the form and their are a lot of folks on here that can help you alot if you give them a chance.Buy the factory manuels for your car it is much easier to help someone on the form that has the books.
The books are about $100.00 or more dollars. Not much money if you realy want to fix your car. That is the least amount of money you will spend on the car.

Some options you can research
If you are going to do a cam swap you might consider a package for the heads /cam. Companies like Lloyd Elliot, or A-1 have a good reputation for LT 1, Lt4 motors. Increasing cam dynamics would require additional upgrades to the heads(springs etc.) and possibly some porting (depending on cam choice and power level you are trying to achieve).
Another option is the GM lt4 hot cam. A good choice and can be purchased as a package with better springs, 1.6 rockers, lifters.
Not sure what you mean by 'programmer' (emmulator?)a good place to look for that type of gear is Craig Moates.

a simple and cheap upgrade would be to purchase a k&n air filter with an open(cut)air lid.as far as th reprogrammer goes i would recommend sending your computer to a vette tuner.there are lots of guys on the forum who can recommend someone.PCMSFORLESS did mine.they are familiar with vettes and can tune to your upgrades alot better than a handheld "programmer".

Most Bang / $ = N20

disclaimer: The above calculation does not include bottle refills or broken parts from too much hp.
