Default Changing Opti - What Else

After 135k I think it is time to do the Opti-spark. It is starting to miss and buck when accelerating at low RPM. Also misses sometimes at higher RPMs. No codes being thrown.

The question is, while in there, what else should be changed?

The water pump has about 30k on it, and I have a spare so I might have that changed.

What other seals and gaskets are in there that need to be changed?

Plugs and wires I have done before an I will do myself. (Second time its easy)

I'm going with the OEM variety of Opti. Just want to get it fixed so I have a piece of mind when I sell it in a few months. (Need C5 Z06)

Default Look at the simple stuff first

My 92 started missing during hard acceleration yet seemed fine at idle.
The plug wires looked OK and appeared to be seated but then I pulled on each one (with the engine off!) and the #4 wire to the plug fell right off. I mashed the boot a little to add tension and reseated it on the plug.
That was the fix

Unless these items are fresh, I'd suggest you swap them while you're in there -- you'll never have better access to them than while you've got it pulled down for the Opti:

Water pump
All coolant hoses
Serpentine belt
Plug wires
Spark plugs
Any seals on the timing cover that are leaking

Be well,

SJW

Agreed, if the decision is made to R&R the Opti whether it's causing his miss or not. But I'd rather not if I can fix it simply and at no cost. Especially if he's ready to sell it.
