Default So oil viscosity effects performance???

Is this true?
I've been running Mobil 1 Synthetic 15w-50 for the past 5k miles. I'm changing it to Mobil 1 Synthetic 5w-30 today.

Will I notice an increase in power? Lower engine temp? What?

I doubt that you'll notice any overt difference in performance. However, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that your oil is flowing more freely as the engine was designed for. :yesnod:

try 0w30 for more horsepower redline oil has a graph for viscosity versus horsepower very interesting

If your car has 90,000 or better miles....stay with the 15-50. better to save a rod bearing than try and create a couple more horse's. Never been a fan of thin oil. when oil temp's reach 170-220 the weight of the oil drops considerably and with 5-30, its to much of a drop with high miles on a car.10-30 would be the least i would consider. :seeya

YOUR 5W30 FULLY SYNTHETIC WILL OUT PROTECT AN 20W50 MOTOR OIL DONT WORRY ABOUT JUST THE VISCOSITY UN LESS YOU HAVE LOW OIL PRESSURE TO BEGIN WITH SYNTHETICS ARE LOT MORE TOLERABLE TO HEAT AND SHEER AND BREAKDOWN THAN CONVENTIONAL OILS THATS WHY I SAID CK OUT REDLINE OIL ASK FOR THEIR FREE CATALOG YOU CAN SEE FOR YOUR SELF
