you have an air box in the front of your car, with louvres. Basically you cut out the louvres, and widen the opening to the air filter.
judging that it feeds air from the middle, i think the louvres are there to direct air to the middle of the filter.

Does this make any real change that would be worth the work? Like removing the water pump vib dampener would yield as much as 10 HP. What about this "open lid"? :cool:

It was almost no work at all. No noticable difference, youd never know you did it.
I think it was Mackeyred that said it doesnt give you any 1/4 time gains.
All that said, it probably isn't as useless as the "air foil" and it's free.
The open lid probably gives you 1-3 hp
