Changed console...can't find old decal...believe I have hd brakes. Car is heavily optioned, same tire size front and rear. What is ez way to tell brake type?
If you have factory wheels that are the same 17x9.5 size and 275/40-17 tires and you also have the FX3 Selective Ride Control, chances are that the car has the Z07 suspension which included the heavy duty J55 brakes. The front rotors should be 13" in diameter.
You asked for the easy way. Well here it is:
-- Go to your chevy dealer, goto Parts, with your title, and tell them that you want them to run the VIN and give you the VECHICLE INFORMATION SHEET. This sheet will list exacly how your vette was made, with what items were used. Color, Radio, Antenna, Brakes, Tranny, Seat, Packages, Tire size...etc.... It has alot of information AND IT'S FREE...
At the same time, goto the Service section:
-- You can also have them run the VIN for any repairs they have on record, and ask them if all the recalls were done... Sometimes they will even tell you who the previous owners were (They get this from the repair section on their cpu's)
