AIR pump
So do I get headers with the AIR pump or just take the whole system out?
The bullet cats that I would replace the original one with do not have the AIR hose to connect to. So what do I do with that hose? cap it?
If I take out the air system, what does that do to belt routing? Is it absolutley essential to replace the air pump with that pulley replacment thing I've seen in mid America?
I havent found a belt that will work, so you'll need to use the pulley they sell if you delete it altogether. If I were to keep it intact I'd tack it to the exhaust pipe downstream, theres going to be air pushed through it during closed loop when the stream switches to the main.

Youre better off deleting it though.
What is this thing supposed to do? Are there any ill effects to removing it?
AIR pumps air into the cats to get them lit quicker so they can do their job. On startup its routed into the manifolds to the precats, and in closed loop switches to the main cat.
As long as the car is hot, it'll pass an emissions test. Since its an L98, it wont have any code set or anything.

Like I said, it doesnt do anything else, its stand-alone. You just yank off the associated pipes. If you buy headers (or a cat) with AIR fittings, you dont even have to plug them if you dont want to, the valve is one-way.
