Default Throttle Body injectors

I hope I have the terminolgy correct here, what is the most common cause of no fuel spray coming from the front throttle body injector? This is my first Vette (1984) and I'm trying to get familiar with it.

Thanks for any input.

I sure am glad that no one else has ever had this problem.

I've never owned a crossfire car. But it's still just an injector. Does the car run? Is there fuel pressure? Is the injector getting a signal to fire? I don't know what the correct value should be, but you could try reading the resistance of the injector over the two terminals. If you can find what it's supposed to be, that might help you pinpoint if it's bad or not. Just thoughts...

440man,

We had a problem just like this on my boss's 84, had fuel at the back injector, but not the front one. This caused a lot of head scratching since the rear is fed from the front, and we fought this for about six weeks on and off, but it turned out to be a bad coil. Who would of thought? We probably never would of found it, but he vaguely remembered reading something about it in one of his manuals. Something else to look at, hope it helps!

I don't know that there is a "most common cause of no fuel spray coming from the front throttle body injector" I've had my 1984 for 20 years and I've never experienced it. Step one would be, after filling out your profile, to order the FSM (Factory Service Manual). In addition to repair procedures there are "systems explanation" that tell how different components function and interact with others. Then for problems, there are trouble shooting charts to step you, logically, through tests, designed to aid you in finding the true cause of the problem, without wasting money on "educated guesse" part replacement.

Based on the wording of the question, I'll ***-U-ME the rear TB injector is firing. Trouble shooting is largely logic. You can see from the fuel line lay out that the rear TB gets it's gas through the front TB. Except for a short passage from the accumulator to the injector and a screen, the problem isn't likely to be one of fuel supply. That leaves the electrical system that activates the injectors. The easiest to check is the connection at the injector. If the pulses aren't reaching the wiring connector at the injector there are two (Inj 1, and Inj 2) fuses to check. If they are good, check the wiring back from the connector to the ECM. If the pulses are present at the front connector, plug it in to the rear injector as a test to see if ot fires. if so, the front injector is likely bad. Also, you can Ohm check the injectors. If the screen to the front injector is plugged up, it will be evident as you start to remove it.

RACE ON!!!

Thanks for the info. fellas. I've never owned a crossfire car either, or a Vette for that matter.

The car runs, barely.
Yes, there is fuel pressure since the rear injector sprays fine.
I don't if the injector is getting signal to fire or not. I know very little about testing electrical connections.
Blownfuel1 - I guess you are talking about a coil pack right?

CFI-EFI - I have now filled out my profile, I will be ordering a FSM soon.
Your "***-U-ME" UMPTION is correct in that the rear TB injector is firing. The tips you have supplied is exactly what I was looking for. Maybe a blown fuse or something really simple. I have another project that I have to finish before I can really get to work on the Vette. I just need to be able to move it in and out of the garage without pushing it.
Thanks for your expertise and good to know that you have had an 84 for that long, since I will probably be asking more stupid questions in the future. Thanks again
