Default courtesy lights when wet

90 vert - Today, is a very rare day that I took the car knowing that it was going to rain. However, after getting in to head out for lunch, the courtesy lights stayed on. This happened before after a wash.

So, I suspect something shorting out when wet. Any ideas where to look? I replaced the driver's side switch twice in the past two months thinking that was the problem. (Delco is my enemy....)

I presume your headlight **** isn't twisted to the left?

Does the alarm system work? If not, it's probably a bad door plunger switch. These should disconnect the courtesy light ground circuit when the door is shut.

since I've replaced the plunger switch twice recently, I'm thinking it may be in the wiring somewhere.

Had the same thing happen on my car after a heavy downpour. Car dried out in a few days. Never could find the culprit.

Hey CentralCoaster, is that a picture of you and your vette on racelegal.com website with the fastest reaction time?

On a 90 the headlight **** does not control the dome lights. There is a slider switch around the headlight **** for the dome lights.

Yup! My first perfect, finally after coming so close so many times.

There's probably a half dozen other ones in the archives too.

If I ever get my car running again maybe I will see you down there. Have new Edelbrock aluminum heads and a LPE 74211 roller cam to install.

I saw one in the same set of you taking off. What are your times?

Best is a 8.64. I've been running brackets lately and trying to improve my reaction times and consistency. I think I had a .502 and .503 that night also I've got some more parts on the shelf though.

As bob barker might say, "come on down!" Need any help with the topend work?

Just need the time to put everything back together. Still need to get a timing set and some shorter pushrods.
