Default Need Electrical Help Please...

I tried to rebuild the Alternator in my 85...after I installed it and hooked up the battery I had smoke come from the passenger side near the starter.

I bought a new alternator and just installed it and now I am only getting 11.5V showing on the cluster and Alternator shows 15V with my multimeter.

Any advice on where to start??

Thanks

check the wiring between the starter and the battery, the battery and the alternator. You also need to check for a burned fusable link... at this point, you REALLY need the Helm Factory Service Manual. Check eBay at our own parts for sale/wanted section.

you are lucky it started... whew...

Yes I was very releived it started too, is there fusable links on the power wire from the Alternator to the Solenoid? or the Solenoid to the Battery? Or both? Where can I get replacement fuseable links?
