Default Fuel Filter Woes no more

This is a finished the repair and thanks post. I posted a thread a week or so ago concerning the stripped fuel line nut attached to the back of my 86's fuel filter. I received lots of advice on how to get it off and told everyone I would post after completion.
Here is what happened. Drove over to a friend at a mechanic training school. Started her up, pulled the fuel pump fuse and drained the lines. Popped the fuel cap. Got my baby up on a lift (really the only way to go if possible). Blasted both ends with PB BLaster. Detached the front of the fuel filter from the line (the side closest to the engine). Drained fuel from the lines. Got a vice grip seated on the fuel line nut at the back end. Attached an adjustable wrench to the fuel filter nut and turned - it immediately popped and screwed off. Left the seated vice grips on to help tighten the new filter.
The filter was filled with brownish fuel telling me it was ready to be replaced. Reattached the new filter -tightened it up. Lowered the car. Re-plugged the FP fuse in. Started her up and everything worked. Still running rough but at least I know it isn't the fuel filter.
Special thanks to everyone that helped me out. You guys are great!

Glad you got it swapped out. Mine came off with nowhere near as much drama (thankfully) but it's always good to hear a favorable outcome.
