Default 87 Headlight motor gear replacement

I need to change the gears in my headlight motors. I've already bought them.
I need instruction on how to replace them.
I'd appreciate your help.
Thanks :yesnod:

Check out the tech tips from the home page of corvetteforum.cc. It has a tip called "Headlight motor repair / Bushing replacement". This instruction should help you open up the motor to change the gears.

Just did mine the other day...easy...also another casual place for instructions is MAD....look on there tech area and go down the list and look for Headlight Motor Gear.....the link did not work at this time..I dont know why..but maybe it will later...also get some white lithium grease and silicone sealant to complete the job.....the instructions say to open lights then disconnect negative battery cable....then scribe the outer edges of the bolts to be removed so you know where to align them when putting back....there are 7 bolts to remove per light...2 hidden on the bottem....3 in the center and 2 on the outer area a metel bracket will come out also.....disconnect the 2 wires for the headlamp and remove the bolts and you are good to go....it will come out easy....now its a good time to check for rust under that area..had alot on mine....before you do all this have an area set up you can set the light on...so you dont scratch your paint....
Now at your work area you remove 3 more bolts holding the motor to the headlamp assembly.....and slide it out....then undo all the little screws and pry it open....take out old gear and clean out area good....when you put the new gear in it has 2 bushing per side they are touching each other...put in the gear...set the plate on top then the metal gear on top with the tabs in the holes in between those bushings....apply lith grease to it all and clean up the outer lip and apply silicone and seal the 2 back together..and reverse the installation.....I recommend that you put it back in and manualy turn the white **** to open and close it the first time to be sure its aligned in the hood...dont want to chew up another gear...also while you got them open clean electrial contacts with your wifes nail file.."dont let her catch you...or you will have a hand mark on the back of your head matching mine

I hope this helps...it is off the top of my head and I believe it to be correct...but I just rode my bicyle for 2 hours and am exhausted so I might have missed something................like dont get a sunburn like me....and dont curse mother nature or she will get you back..

Thanks Shayne. I will check out MAD.
The post on gears and bushings in tech tips are different than the 87. I believe it deals with an 88 or newer which is different. Thanks though. I had already read it.
