All you have to do is disconnect the battery.

You can either disconnect the battery for 30 sec or pull the ECM fuse. Both of these will reset the ECM but if the code hasn't been fixed the Service Engine Soon will appear again in the first minute of engine run time.

http://www.yjshadow.com/ALDL_codes.htm

Follow the first part of the instructions and not the codes, they differ with a vette.

This is what you need to do. The SES light will go off when the battery is disconnected, but the light will show back up if the code is not taken care of. I posted a website that tells you how to pull the code(s). Read the flashes and report back.

The SES light will not come on because the car needs new brakes or new oil. It is normal for the SES light to come on while the key is in the on position, but not if your driving the car. When a code is set in the ECM, this means that the ECM has seen a voltage/signal out of it's range and makes the SES light come on. You will need a paperclip in the shape of a U and insert it in the two top right terminal (A and B) of the ALDL. Turn the key to on and the SES will start flashing codes....code 12 is normal and is just a diagnostic check. The fan will run along with various sensors.

Thanks for your help so far

I followed your instructions and the light flashes three times a code 34. On this site http://www.corvettedoctor.com/1985_91_DTC_Codes.html it gives the following discripion Mass Air Flow Sensor Low. Is this a correct? Is so what should I do? I have disconnected the battery but after starting the engine again the light came on again, so it doesn't reset.

I hope you can help me with this problem

When you disconnect the battery you reset the SES light, then you started the car again and it still see's the same fault so it turns the light back on. I have read that MAFS can be cleaned, but I have never done this.

Until you fix the problem (34) the SES light will continue to come on with the start of the car, and will return as soon as another error code is detected.

i understand that, that i have to fix the problem.

But what i wanna know is how do i fix it. The light flashes three times a code 34. And when i look at the this web site:

http://www.corvettedoctor.com/1985_91_DTC_Codes.html

it gives the following discripion Mass Air Flow Sensor Low.

So what i wanna know is this a correct? and is so what should I do?

I have disconnected the battery but after starting the engine again the light came on again, so it doesn't reset.

I hope you can help me with this problem

I cleaned the MAFS but it still didn't work.

I wanna know if code 34 is really the MAFS and not something else
and how i can fix this

please anybody????

You are correct if indeed it is a code 34. The light will blink three times in a row...pause...blink four times in a row. You should have gotten a code 12 before and after the code 34. Here is what to do : check for loose or damaged air duct. Disconnect the battery and clear the codes. Reconnect and (do not ground the ALDL), and start the engine and run above 2000 rpm for 1 minute or until the light comes back on. Now turn the engine off and turn the key to on and ground the terminal.

If the code is still there, disconnect the battery again and clear the code. ALDL not grounded, disconnect the MAF sensor and start the engine and run above 2000 rpm for one minute or until the light comes back on. Now turn the engine off and turn the key to on and ground the terminal.

If the code 34 is still there check for short to ground in the dark green wire at the MAF. Have the connector off and use a voltmeter and test the dark green wire with the key on. It should show 5v when tested and if it doesn't, check the dark green wire at the ECM. The ECM could be faulty if there is not 5v there.

If a code 33 shows up after doing this. The MAF is bad and needs to be replaced.

This comes directly from my 86 FSM. Maybe this will get you in the right direction. My guess is that it is a loose connection or a shorted wire.

I tried this fix, and the Service Engine Soon light came on again.

I had H32, so I changed out the 02 Sensor and the Knock sensor. The Service Engine Soon light was on. I disconnected the negative side of the battery, waiting about 30 minutes working on other projects, re-connected the battery and started the engine. Service Engine Soon light came on immediately.

kinda a old post, if your blinking a code 32 it’s a egr solenoid failure or temp switch if applicable.

Thank you for your input. After reading your post, I went back out to check the codes again.

I received two codes, see below

1.
H41

4.
H43

I will look these up and see what system they relate to. If you know, feel free to share the fix with me - thanks

iirc H43 is a knock sensor code
