I need your help guys, I have an 86 with the 4+3, and the past two days it has been making a grinding/scraping noise in first and second when I have the clutch fully depressed, ie. coasting to a light, or when stopped. The sound goes away when I take it out of gear, or when I begin to accelerate. Any ideas what is going on?
On a side note, my overdrive has been screwed as well, coming on as it pleases, and the button working when it wants. Is this electrical?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm slowly losing my patience with this thing...
I'm no expert but I've just replaced my clutch and I've recon'd my ST-10 after I lost a tooth on the counter shaft.
Without actually hearing what sort of noise it is, I would try jacking the rear end and see if the wheels are still trying to turn when the clutch is depressed and in gear. Why it should only do it in 1stand second I don't know.
How long since you changed the clutch and how do you drive it?
