I Hate Por-15!!!
It was advised NOT to spray on since the vapors are extremely harmful and a pressurized mask with separate air source is required.
I carefully brushed this stuff on and did as recommended...applied a second coat when the first coat does not leave a fingerprint but the finger does not drag easily across the surface.
After putting on the second coat I noticed areas where there were drip s forming and sags. I attempted to "chase" every drip and sag but this stuff gels up quickly.
After not happy with the finish I sanded down certain areas and reapplied more POR-15. Again, the finish was not very good. I then snaded the entire frame for 5-hours in an attempt to remove all the imperfections. I tried to spray over this stuff with Rustoleum to make a smooth finish. Still after sanding for two days the finish is poor.
Now I want to remove this junk. Does anyone know if media blasting will remove it??? I tried regulat paint remover and it doesn't budge...:-(
That stuff is finicky but looks awesome when done right. That stiff takes on the consistency of water, a LITTLE goes a long way as you found out. Id have a pro sandblast it, that paint is tough as a ****.
Ive brushed and sprayed the stuff, prefer spraying it for best results. It is toxic as hell though. I used the best respirator I could get my hands opn, covered as much skin as possible, triuggered my asthma. I was f'd for about a month. Everyone reacts differently though , friend of mine sprayed it with no respirator, nothing, no problems.
Except he looks like
all the time now
I sandblasted some pieces I had painted with POR15 with silica sand (usually used for rust removal - just about shreds anything) and the POR15 just got some pock marks. I was just cleaning the part up and I wasn't trying to get the POR15 off, but I'd hate to try to blast it off an entire frame.
Also, it seems to attract dust - you can brush it on and it looks great, then look back a few minutes later and there's all sorts of dirt and shet in it.

I won't use it on anything that is visible, but I do use it inside frame rails, inside doors and fenders and inside the car (floorpans and such).
You're probably going to have to get a guy with a serious sandblaster to get that stuff off.
