Anyone got any recommendations about use of these heads? I am thinking of adding them to my 383 build. What size chambers are recommended. Anyone got any for sale?? Thanks for all responses.
Few yrs ago 383/AFR 195 heads/219 was a killer combo i guess it still famous, pm corvette0096 has it on his 85 and running 11.58 1/4 mile or ask jesse about this visit his web azzatochips.com. Well if u want to bump some more compression than go with lowest chamber numbers, TPIs sells them but thier's are CNCed, 187 cc with 58cc chambers. Infact there's one for sale in sale section. Bigger is not better when it comes to heads, i wish i had gone with 180cc heads with my 383 for some more low end grunt, i like low end torque thats where i play more than at upper rpm.
I say go for it. If you match everything up corectly youre going to have a fast car. My 383 has 216cc heads on a DD car and it drove like a champ in a 3900 pound car.

TPIS advertises their joint venture with AFR heads as having 54cc chambers. Mine were measured by engine builder @ 56cc.
I see their price went WAY up. I got my L98 heads 2 years ago for $1,750 including shipping (the shipping deal I negotiated; saved about $50). The price is so unreal crazy now, it was crazy then.

How about Trickflow 195's , similar specs without the commonly reported oil problems of AFR (do a search) and generally cheaper?
Summit do a complete kit , heads, rockers, cam for $1800
I have no idea about the trick flows but the AFR heads do pretty good.
Just a note - Get the CNC'd if you think you want their best available. If you want to have them CNC'd by AFR at a later date it is over $1000. In fact, they recomend you sell your current AFR heads & buy new CNC'd ones - it is cheaper.

I have a brand new set I am not going to use, new in the box. They have the larger 74cc chamber size.
