Hey All,
Started the engine...let idle for about 30 seconds. Turned 'Air Cond' on...let idle for another 30 seconds or so...then as I backed out of the driveway, and put the trans in 1st gear...let off the clutch, moved about 40 feet...the engine just quit on me.
Engine will crank and crank, but it will not start. I smell fuel...as if I'm flooding the engine. No codes noted.
Re: Help!!!86 Corvette. Engine will not 'turn over'. (UDLUV12)
Check for fuel pressure in the Rails first. Then if you find you have pressure check for spark. They will narrow down your possibilities. Any codes set?

This sounds very similar to my original fuel pump problem. Intermittent failure. If you don't have a fuel pressure guage, you can touch the tip of a screwdriver against the needle in the fuel rail pressure guage fitting(passenger side) and see if fuel squirts out. (be carefull please!) On mine, nothing came out when it acted that way. There should be pressure from the moment you turn on the ignition switch.

One time on my HEI Buick I parked the car went inside a store came out and car would crank but not start, found out it was the coil (not getting spark at plug). If you can hear the fuel pump prime the fuel rail when you turn the key on, then check for spark first, if spark then look for fuel.
