Am putting engine together with new hot cam..Bought new sprockets and chain. My dad (ncChris) is wondering about the slop in the chain. It seems
that the chains in earlier years were tighter than mine is now. Are the new chains supposed to be loose ? The one i removed with 100k miles on it was much looser.. appreciate the help
The stock LT1 chain is "pre-stretched" so it may be a little looser. If you switch to one of the various double roller (comp cams, cloyes) it will be *much* tighter.
hey thanks a million ChrisB!!! was really stressed about that point. to croozn, i got the 2149 ceramic coated headers, but im also in mid riff of removing my EGR and AIR systems from the vehicle, so in retrospect, i would have opted for the 2151 non emmisions headers and someone told me you can order these ceramic coated. i know ChrisB whom posted earlier sells them, you could ask if he can get a set for you. if your going to put them on an LT1, i would almost recommend having the bare set sent and then having a muffler shop weld in O2 bungs in the reducer. i am plugging the O2 bung in the #7 Primary tube and adding O2 bungs directly past the header flange into the NEW lengths of 3" pipe between the old catback exhaust system and new header flange. this way im not really messing up the headers or the catback, and i plan on running heated O2 sensors. hope this help!!
