Default Swapping to a th350 or th400

Is it easier to do this swap into a 93 since the tranny is not electriclly controlled?

the PCM can be programmed to not deal with the automatic.

however, if you want strength and some element of drivability, look at a 4L80E - it's the TH400 with an overdrive, essentially.

You can just go with a TH400 and throw a Gear Vendors' Overdrive on it.

The gearvendors piece is like $2500+ lol and this is not including the tranny, building the tranny, Tq converter etc.

you can always get a 4L80E out of something like a Chevy Suburban.

I would love to see if an Allison automatic would fit.

yup.
This is part of the reason that guys will spend the extra to build up a 700.
No cheap way out that I know of.

If you've got a torque motor to support it, build a damned TH350 (or 400 if you want to be complicated) and knock your gear ratio down and forget about the damned OD... Just my $.02

$1,000-, $1,500 will buy alot of quality for either one. You can spend less and still get a good unit. A near stock 400 will support 700 or more hp
Although the turbo 350 has a reputation for being the greatest 3 speed of all time, I have seen alot of failures. They are a good trans, don't get me wrong. Just not the end all for 3 speeds.

You know...Another tranny that hardly EVER gets mentioned in regards to C4 swaps is the 2004R... A shame really, it's size and efficiency is that of a TH350 and when built correctly they will take an unhealthy amount of abuse... I had a 9 second turbo Buick with one of Mike Kurtz's 200's in it... Damned car weighed 3850 lbs with me in it...

I hear it's not very cheap and not worth the hassle. At least that what I read on the Fbod forums about'em.

You've got a Vette...Not an F-body... I have a hard time listening to a lot of F-body guys, they're CHEAP AS HELL!!!!

All kidding aside... The 200 isn't cheap, but RELIABLE speed costs money, how fast do you wanna go???

Good point. I just want to run 10's N/A and have a tranny that doesnt require a rebuild after every season

Whatever you end up doing, make sure it will pass your state emissions, that is, if you are keeping this car street legal.

Built a 700r4 it will last atleast 10 or less 10 second runs.
Ask me how I know
Spend the money on the 4L80E and fab the c-beam with a 6 inch 4L80E tail shaft and lengthen the c-beam
or the 9 inch tailshaft and shorten the c-beam.
Cut the floor board and install a mount and it should never break.

"I just want to run 10's N/A"
Broadbased assumption you won't be looking for O/d on your 10 sec run so as Jeb said either trans built up will do fine.
At a minimum you need adapter made to mount the
C beam to the trans ext housing and a modified driveshaft.

Have pics of another members TH400 conversion if you want.
