What would cause this???
I have noticed that my car is "slow" from a dead stop to about 3000 rpm, then it takes off like a bad out of hell. Actually my dad made the comment the other day when we were doing some 1/4 mile runs. I too have noticed it. I have 3.07 gearing and I know that lowers gears would take care of this, but then the car would run out of breath sooner. I suppose a torque converter would also help. Just wondering which torque converter would be best. Keep in mind that I plan on getting a 219 cam, AFR heads, and SR this winter. Would the torque converter help with this now or what could be causing this. I have scanner data to go along with the runs if anyone needs them. Thanks
Bob
This is kinda weird. I think my car would be well into the 13's if I could fix this. I think I am going to try some runs with getting the tires spinning off the line to get the R's up best launching. This may make things worse, but you never know. The car aside from this runs like a no other. I was at Englishtown a while back and was running 14.2 to find that my timing was 6* off! And also was running around 230C because of no cooling. I fixed the cooling problem and timing and the car is really alive now. One other neat little thing was adjusting the TV cable. The car barks the tires into second every time even at part throttle. Makes the shifting much more positive. I have all I need to start programming my own chips, just need to get the time to start. Should be interesting. I think what we need is a torque converter with a higher stall speed. This would alow the engine to get into a higher RPM before launch, thus solving our problem and reducing ET's. Just wanted some expert opinions on what stall speed ect.
Hope we find some advice.
