well I just got my first vette. love it. but it does have a couple problems. mainly the one I am having problems with is the VATS. its going off a lot. but only ocasionally the horn will sound. everytime I open the door or use my key to unlock it, the lights start blinking. I get in the car and I can hear the relay clicking. the door/lights chime as well. and it won't stop for quite a while. and when it does, it starts again. weird thing is I can still start the car. even after the horn has sounded. the PKE works..sorta. sometimes it'll set when I walk away from it. if I hit the door button or walk near it, the lights start blinking. what's wrong??? I can't do much as far as researching this because my net is on my phone. thanks all.
something else to add, it didn't start doing this untill I left my interior lights on last nite. came to my new car to find I already killed the battery. good move ay? my other electrical problems are the ac clutch isn't kicking in, the fog lights aren't turning on, and the car has had the C5 west resessed head light kit(which is probably gonna end up forsale) installed. with the headlights, the brights light on the dash is on even when I turn on my parking lights. turning the brights on or off doesn't do anything. the lights just stay as they were. I think those just might be wired wrong. but that kit doesn't light very well. I can't adjust the lights to aim on the road. they aim up. I can see aircraft, just not the road haha.

Nothing you've described is related to VATS.
Most of these symptoms sound like a bad door switch or misaligned door, except the chime doesn't fit. Possibly bad ignition switch or connection causing the chime.

Sounds like you bought somebody's basket case. Good luck with it.
i think it could be a bad door switch. ill go over them and see what goes on and all that. what about the key lock on the door, think a switch in that could be bad? whats it take for a new ign. cylinder? since the key has that resistor specific to the car.
i think i found out that the problem was. i found a POS aftermarket alarm system hard wired into the electrical system under the dash. so i have a new question...where is my start interupt relay and what would be the easiest way to by pass it? i think it was by passed. so i wanting to make sure this alarm system is in good working order.
