Default Hydraulic Clutch help

Hello,
I am new to the forum and a new 1996 CE owner. I am going through the car to "tighten up" several things. I am looking for info on how to revitalize the clutch assembly without purchasing anotehr, yet. What can be done to assess the clutch, and adjust as needed?

Default Hydraulic Clutch help

I am not sure if anything is wrong, I have never owned a vehicle with a manula transmission before.

I have however, accelerated heavily before without squealing tires and after going down the road could smell something burned.

The clutch doesn't slip, as I don't see the tach rev up without an appropriate response of increased acceleration. It doesn't make any unusual noises either. I just want to ensure it is functioning properly and not about to fail.

Thanks for your help.

How many miles are on the clutch? There's strong opinion on this forum 100K miles is about the limit. Of course, there's always exceptions. Any hydraulic fluid leaks? I'm no clutch expert, but I think you'd have to ride it pretty bad to get it to smell burned...unless it had oil leaking on it or something.

www.zfdoc.com has a great section about trouble shooting/diagnostic procedures for your clutch.

http://www.zfdoc.com/clutch_hydraulic.htm

That should give you enough information to determine whether or not the system is operating properly.
