hello,
i have stainless works longtubes,no cats,x-pipe,and dynomax super turbos on the car now.i like the way the car sounds(quiet).however i would'nt mind a little more growl when i'm on the gas.i just don't want it all the time.what are you guys experience with the available mufflers?
i have never heard borlas, magnaflows,or any other on a vette.fwiw i have a corsa resonator i can use if needed.
thanks for your opinions,george.
Replace mufflers with eliminators, or add heads/cam .
I had an X pipe and eliminators on my car when it had the stock motor, great deep throaty sound at idle, no resonance, and screamed when you got on it! I will be posting them for sale soon, just have not got around to it. I had to replace with mufflers due to heads/cam, and it is still to loud inside! Although I like the lopy cam sound, I liked the "sound" better with the old set up.

If you want more growl, I'd stay away from Hooker AeroChambers. I have them on my car and love them, but they aren't much louder than stock. ToyC4 had Borlas on his car and I thought it sounded good. I've also heard Flowmasters and they aren't bad either... I just don't like how generic Flowmaster makes every car sound
if you are looking for a muffler or exhaust that no body else has with a nice grawl designed for each individual corvette KOOKS exhaust located in ny not as popular as the name brands but i have them on my 85 and my 67 camaro BB deep throaty sounds when you are on the gas check out there website . Dont just order them from the catalog ask to speak with a rep and design the exhaust for your car
you won t be disapointed www.kookscustomheaders.com/
gotta agree with Kooks....incredible setup...I live close to them and know a ton of people who have used their systems...they all love them...I mean, they rave.....great headers...they even make custom twin-turbos for our cars.....I have a borla system...random tech cat...and I am probably going with a kooks setup now for headers and a front y, if they offer it....you'll love borla mufflers...I have the Zr-1 mufflers...they look great..sound incredible...the car sounds mean...I can't wait to hear how she's gonna sound after I port and polish and add a new comp cam.......

Another thought to make mention of... contrary to what the manuf's will tell you, any muffler with a 2.5" offset in offset out will work. I had the Dynomax Race Magnums on my TPI Trans Am and it had a mean sound to it. I'd recommend them highly.
x-pipe and eliminators sound good on LT1/4 cars, even when stock IMHO. Hooker Aero chambers are too quiet,i've had them on a BBC motor before and sounded nice and tame but quiet all together.
Everything is stock on my '95 except I put flowmaster 50 series mufflers on. Sounds great. My stock pipes are 2.75" diameter. Nice growl at low rpms, gets a bit quieter at higher rpms though.
