How To Remove - Install Fuel Pump?
it worked just as you said it would........freakin' yippee!...it is however a very tight fit!.......
ok, now i can sleep tonight....i may keep the hooker just 1 more night!
. tomorrow, i'll verify if there is any voltage at the tank filler neck and proceed from there.

Hooray!!!
Be careful checking voltage if you didn't drain the tank entirely. It doesn't take much of a spark to ignite fumes and blow sky high.
Sleep tight. I hope your hooker is.
congrats

I didn't see anyone comment about direction of the sock

What mseven is refering to is the direction of the sock. If you'll look down into the tank with a safe flash light, you'll see a slosh gaurd at the bottom of the tank. This is so you still get fuel with a low tank when turning corners. The sock will have to be positioned on the pump so that it sits down in the middle of that slosh gaurd.
My "sleeve" just slid right off once I had the pump off.
If you look at the pic of my new pump on and lay your assembly at the same angle and mount the pick up "sock" at the same angle you should be ok.

the sock/strainer that "filters" sediment in the gas only comes off one way.........
True it comes of one way but can be positioned differently as in direction it has once in the tank.
Mine was hanging on by a couple of threads when I went through this. The FSM, Delco pump etc. stated to remember which way it was positoned and then to complicate things all sources showed the sock in a different direction. I ended up with it in the middle of the "yellow boat" (pointed 12 and 6 oclock) in the tank (if this makes sense).

hahah.....ok, we are on the same page. i understand about the direction of the "sock". i thought he was "pulling my leg a bit". i will copy the one in my tank if i have to pull it out to replace the pump.....

yeah, when I put my new fuel pump in I positioned the sock pointing toward the left side of the tank..in the middle, if that makes sense. Mail Man...I'm coming to your house, IN MY VETTE, for the hookers and boooooooooooooooooooooooze!
