Weak rear brakes

Weak rear brakes
My 88 doesn't seem to have any grip on the rear brakes unless you mash the pedal to the floor. I hav'e bled the system out and the pedal is firm when you push the pedal down it looks like i can see fluid transfer back into the reservoir. My thought is a bad master cylinder, but could a problem with the antilock system be causeing this?

the ABS is a stand alone system. It will not cause a failure in the normal braking system, short of a line failure.
if the ABS fails, the rest of the brakes operate as normal.
I am suspecting the internal diverter is bad. You may want to take the master out and clean it inside and out. could be gummed up.

I heard of adjusting brake bias here somewhere. I'll have to find it again... Rear brakes are weaker than the front ones for a simple purpose; understeer. Braking with mild understeer is a condition much easier to correct than braking with oversteer. If your rear brakes are too strong, they'd lock up. Then you'd have problems. Yes, my rear brakes are much little weaker than my fronts. The best thing about it is that it also helps immensely for the purpose of burning out just to be cool...
