Default 1996 Gages

I Have A 1996 Coupe With A Automatic . 41,000 Miles. Yesterday I Noticed That My Oil Temp , Trans Temp , And Volt Gages Are Not Working. My Tach Runs Up Slowly , It Acts Like The Needle
Is Rubbing On The Glass Face Of The Instument Panel, But It Isn't. The Car Sat For About A Month. But Nothing Else Is Abnormal. Any Idea's Anyone. Did The 1996 Vette's Have A Instument Cluster Problem Like The Early C-4 's Thanks In Advance

the analog gauges get their info from their respective sensors. I don't know what would be causing this.

Check the 32 pin connector behind the instrument cluster. Three of these pins carry ground and one may be the central ground for all thye guages and if this connection is bad it may cause the symptoms you describe.
To check it remove the black plastic bezel (4 screws) then remoce the clear lens (6 #10 torx screws) then remoce the screws that hold in the instrument cluster (4 torx screws).
You will not be able to remove the cluster completely because you have not dropped the steering column, however you will be able to unplug the connector I am talking about by pulling on the whole cluster.
try unplugging it and replugging it or wiggle it around a bit while it is plugged in to see if you can duplicate the problem or restire the guages.
If moving it around causes the guages to work, I have found some success with some dielectric grease on the pins before plugging them in however you will have to drop the steering column to do this and should only be done if you can restore the guages by wiggleing them.

Hope this helps.
