Ok so Im finally installing the runners. I dont have the valve covers on, but the rockers are already set. Im trying to get at the two bottom bolts on each runner. Whats the best way to do this? I read the instructions and it gives the impression that the bottom bolts dont necessarily need to be tightened, just started and then slide the runners over the bolts... I also was going to use the stock gasket kit for the intake manifold to intake runners, but they seem alot smaller, I could cut um up, but there wouldnt be much gasket left, so If I order the correct gaskets will they solve the problem? Then on the intake manifold right next to wear the fuel rail outlet tubes connect to the manifold, there is an extra hole.... I look on the stock manifold and there is no threaded hole like there is on the Accel... Thoughts here?? The car is coming along, but Ive been spinning my wheels alot with the intake and the damn passenger side header....

You need the gasket kit from LPE. The runner gaskets are bigger. Do yourself a favor and do it right. Aslos use a thin coat of silicone on both sides of the gaskets sice these areas are prone to leaking. The bottom bolts are suposed to tightened. You need to remove the rockers that are in the way. Some people have done it without removing them but I always do. Make sure the heads are not too big and will tighten all the way down. You also will most likely find that some of the bolts are too long. It would be too hard for Accel to supply the correct bolt wouldn't you agree? :mad Make sure you install the fuel injector and rails prior to tightening the runners. It won't fit with them in place. So not ever tighten the bolts either and use neverseez on them.
On the plenum, rin a tap through all the little holes and chase all the threads on the 1/4" bolts. Cut a slot in the end of each bolt with a dremmel or thin file. Makes sure all the holes line up. Coat the plenum gaskets also with a thin coat of black silicone. Start the small bolts in the holes and turn them up in the plenum with a screwdriver from the top (understand?). Do not tighten until they are all started. Also that extra hole in teh front needs pluged with a 3/8" pipe plug. That hole is for a sensor that F-Bodies use.
Right, what he said!!! I found two of the bottom bolts to be too long and would not tighten up. Had to hacksaw about half inch off them. That hole on front gets plugged, as does several holes in plenumn. I had to order a plug kit for all my dang holes. Slotting the bolts that attach the runner to plenumn made it alor easier ( I used a whizzer wheel). I also found that the holes had to be retapped and cleaned. Then the lid to the plenumn had several holes that didn't line up. I had to open them up slightly in the right direction. Yes the rockers had to be loosened, and reset. I even bought a long ball allen head wrench set from sears, that worked well. Next time I will polish my plenumn when it is off. Looks real pretty, all shiny... :yesnod:
OK big problem on the gaskets.... NO ONE has them. Im hoping to get the car to fire up this weekend, but need the gaskets obviouslly... What are my choices. I can order from jegs and have it here friday, for nearly $50 with 2 day ground.... Any other choices? Part of me wants to trust UPS ground, cuz they are sometimes very fast, other times not so much so.... I think Im just gonna pay out the nose and get the gaskets...:( God this gets expensive.
