Help: Car doesn't start right up
I ran out of gas and i killed the fuel pump, went and got a new one and replaced it. Now when i try to start the car it doesn't start right up like a fuel injected car should, it will start but not one turn of the key like it used too. I don't hear the fuel pump kick on when i turn the key and don't start it, could the fuse be a problem ...i used to hear the slight buzz.

Do you have a fuel pressure guage? When you turn the key to "on" you should hear the fuel pump prime for about 2 seconds. With the guage you can see if/how much pressure builds up in the lines. You can also push down on the Schrader valve on the pass side fuel rail and some gas should come out under pressure. Sounds like the fuel pump relay is not doing it's job and is starting when the oil pressure reaches 4 psi via oil pressure switch. Your fuel pump fuse should be good if the engine does start. You can use a test light and touch the fuse while it is in the panel and turn the key to "on". The test light should light up for 2 seconds if the relay is working. You can also use a jumper wire from the positive side of the battery to terminal G on the ALDL (first pin on the bottom row). This should send power directly to the fuel pump until the wire is removed. Just some troubleshooting tips.

The new pump may not be as noisy as the old pump. You need to test it with a gauge so you will know what is happening. The pump is only supposed to run for two seconds after the key is turned to "On" and then, only if it has been "Off" for 10 seconds or more. If you had a bad fuse the fuel pump wouldn't run under any conditions. If the pump really doesn't run for the 2 second priming period, the fuel pump relay is the next suspect. But TEST it before you condemn it.
