GM allows a small flow of coolant to flow through the throttle body, warming it for improved cold weather performance. You can remove it, however it does not free any HP
I just saw it as a potential source of leaks and it looks funny. Doubt I'll have much cold weather operating problems in Houston.. Arlon I think it will be a delete item/bypass item. Arlon
Most of us have addressed this issue. Its easy and cheap.
Disconnect both hoses that connect to the throttle body and join them with a connector and two clamps. This is a $ 3.00 and ten minute mod. Good luck.
Take the hose from the radiator T and go to the tube under the passenger side fuel rail cover. No kit needed. It lowers the tb temp to cool to the touch and helps out under the hood. Every little bit helps ya know.
There you go, proof that every good mod is worth it's weight in hp. I think 6 hp is pretty optimized. For a standard LT1 I would really guess the improvement is something like 2-3 hp, but doing the bypass helps clean up the engine compartment. I would do it just for that reason alone.
