Default Replaced ECM-problem solved

A month ago I wrote about my starting problems and erratic idle.
It would take 3 or or more starts to get the engine running. The idle would go up to 1300 rpm for up to 10 minutes, then down to 700. My radiator cooling fan would start running immediately. After 15 minute idling the cat would glow red. If I turned the AC on the engine died. My generic GM code reader did not display any codes, not even code 12. I flatbedded the Corvette to my mechanics shop. He had 2 different code readers/scanners. He could not get any codes. He checked for vacuum leaks, fuel pressure, TPS, idle control unit and several other items. Finally he put in a GM rebuilt ECM - eureka everything back to normal. He used the old chip which was ok. BY the way I did have the original GM shop manual.
1989 red coupe aotomatic with 14500 miles.

A red flag within your problems - the lack of a code 12. That indicates that the ECM is working and communicating to the outside world.

Glad you got that fixed up!
