Default check engine soon

I recently had lots of water in my gas tank . I cleared that out since and did a complete oil change on the corvette 1989, I also had run about five tanks of gas thru it since the water. and I find that after driving about 10 to 14 miles the check engine soon light comes on. It clears itself everytime I turn off the car. But it comes on again after I put on the 10 or 14 miles again. And it seems to run okay. I don't know if this is related to the water that was in the tank or something else any idea out there. thank you

Pull the trouble code(s) and trouble shoot it (them) according to the steps on your FSM. Generally, water in the gas wouldn't trigger a code, but if after you see what the code is, you think you may have corrected it, clear the codes and see if it recurs.

RACE ON!!!

The only code that would trigger is a code 54 which is the fuel pump circuit. If you are unable to pull the codes manually as CFI stated, then a scanner is what will do it for you. It might be Code 32 EGR function since it comes on after driving. Just a thought. And yes, water in the tank will not trigger a code. If you have a FSM refer to it and if not let us know.
