Default knock sensor leaking

I have the passenger knock sensor leaking. Can I back it out a little and use thread sealer on it? Can it leak through the housing? If I remember correctly it is a solid screw and should only be leaking around the threads. Any help is appreciated.

If you back it out too far, get ready for a bath. I would just tighten it about 1/2 turn, and see if that helps.

Thread sealants are specifically discouraged with the knock sensors. Use of sealants can interfere with the sensor's frequency or amplitude response.

The sensors come with a special treatment on the threads to seal them. If you can't get your KS to seal properly when tightened to the recommended torque (14 lb/ft, if I recall correctly, but verify that), I'd suggest you spring for a new KS, and that should solve your problem without creating any new ones.

Be well,

SJW

Folow that direction and get a new one and don't overtighten the old one USE a Torque wrench.

Thanks,Matt
