Does anyone know if the dual fans on a 1991 Corvette are supposed to run for a certain length of time, or until the engine reaches a certain temperature after the car is turned off?
If the car is over the temp set by the ECM, the fans will run after the car is turned off. This is to prevent an overheated engine from being damaged. Your car is fine.
I would lean toward shorted relay, here in AZ, we ground the ecm connection (at least on the 84-9's) so the fan comes on when you start the car, the relay coil voltage should only be hot in start, run, or ign. on.

Just currious as to what temp the engine has to be for this to happen?
I was just curious. I thought they used to come on when my car ran at the factory settings before my modifications a year ago. Now, my car in hot Florida with the A/C on rarely reaches above the 1/2 way mark on the instrument cluster. I have a Holley Ram Port Injection unit on my Vette with the right rear drilled out for the water passage. There is a hypertech thermomaster chip in the car with a 160 degree thermostat along with 2 small 1/8 holes I drilled in the top of it. The shroud has been opened up more in the front, & the license plate was opened for more air flow. The air filter is now a K&N (the larger model--there are 2) that fits directly on the throttle body. The filter is modified, so the air temp sensor can fit into the end of it. There is a hood scoop to allow hot air from the radiator out of the engine compartment. The water pump is an Edelbrock Victor. The car is no where close to stock. The distributor had to be changed to the smaller style with a separate mounted coil. Was it worth it? You bet. The car is faster, cooler, & I can take the intake off with the same 8 bolts Chevy used in the past. These mods for a cooler engine might be bad for some (especially those up North), but it works great for me.
Thanks for the responses about the fans. I just couldn't remember.
