ABS ! looki here...
this is what i found out so far...
My ABS computer is history due to HEAVY oxide...
Cant even get a code 12 :/
I even tried to disconnect the computer and run the car. The same light is ON , "ABS ACTIVE" and "SERVICE ABS"! strange....
But from a forum meber i found out that the ABS active light is controlled by a realy, that simply turn the light on and off during normal ABS activity. So I tought mayby the relay whas stuck in a open position!? I disconnect the realy and the ABS active light came off.. ok. I connected it again, and now the ABS active light is OFF during start and driving ?? And the ABS still dosent work.. Cant get a code 12 either.. SO.
Probaly the computer is out AND the realy.
Now to the next strange thing...
As you can se on my picture ( sorry for my bad foot camera skills ), there is a connector with a diod across. This seemes to control the "service ABS" light. Beacuse when connected ( diod is short ) the "service ABS" light is ON, and when disconnected the light is OFF! Strange.. It could be som sort of diag mode, I have NO clue..
What I would whant from you guys, are if you can locate this diod on your abs system. So I can verify that this diod thing really should be there in the first place!
The next step is to TRY a new ABS computer and se whats happend. I will do this next month, BUT the local chevy mech takes $100 for just TRY one of his ABS computers!! argh....
So would you agree with me that the probaly cause for my ABS failure is the ABS computer, because of the strange lights, and not be abel to get a code12?..
give me som feedback...
:hat
