Recently at a cruise, a friend of mine who I hadn't seen in a long time but is very knowledgeable about our favorite car made the comment my '90 triple black convertible must have been manufactured early in the year. I advised him it was made in April and how did he know? He said because I had 1989 seats in the car....well, I kinda didn't want to believe that, but have since compared my seats to other 90's and sure enough, mine are the 89 seats.....has anyone heard of this before and can you tell me a little about what happened? thanks.
I didnt know there was a difference in 89 and 90. At least on the standard seats. I ordered new seat covers and foam from Al Knoch for my 93 and I was told that 89 through 93 were the same except my 93 has the 40th stitching on the head rest.
I have new seats on the way for my 89, They are standard seats and when I ordered them they were listed 89-93...???
Do you have pictures of your seats you could compeare them to mine...I hope yours are cleaner than these
Thanks for the pics.....your seats are exactly like mine...which proves the point....I have a 90 and you and an 89. The 90 models I've looked at are all different than mine (ours). They have a "rolled and tucked" type style in the middle of the back and near the area where your butt rests......

So far, no explanation for this.....
You're thinking of the sport seats with the lumbar supports that give the tucked look. Look for option AQ9 in your console, bet it won't be there.
I'm out of town right now, but will look at RPO's when I get back....I looked at two 90 models....can't remember if they had the sport seats or not...but that would explain the difference....
Yep, these are the ones I saw in other 90's....so, I guess this type upholstery with the rolled and tuck look only came as option with sport seats......hmmmm....
